British Values
At the Triple Crown Centre, we are committed to actively promoting the fundamental British values as defined by the Department for Education. These values are embedded throughout our curriculum, daily practice, and school ethos, and are essential in supporting students to become respectful, responsible, and engaged members of society.
The Fundamental British Values
The five fundamental British values are:
Democracy
The rule of law
Individual liberty
Mutual respect
Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
These values are taught, modelled, and reinforced throughout all aspects of school life.
Democracy
We promote democracy by ensuring that students have opportunities to express their views and influence aspects of school life. This includes pupil voice activities, regular discussion opportunities, and feedback processes that help shape provision and daily practice.
The Rule of Law
Students are supported to understand the importance of rules and expectations in school and wider society. Clear behaviour expectations are consistently reinforced, helping students understand responsibility, fairness, and the consequences of actions. External agencies may also support learning around the law and personal safety.
Individual Liberty
Students are encouraged to make informed choices within a safe and supportive environment. We promote independence, self-awareness, and personal responsibility, alongside education around online safety and making positive life choices.
Mutual Respect
Respect is central to our ethos. Students are supported to build positive relationships with staff and peers, and to understand the importance of treating others with kindness, dignity, and consideration. Respectful behaviour is modelled and reinforced throughout the school day.
Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs
We promote understanding and respect for diversity through curriculum content, discussion, and enrichment activities. Students are encouraged to recognise, appreciate, and respect different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds.
How British Values Are Taught
British values are not taught in isolation but are embedded across the curriculum and wider school life, including:
PSHE and curriculum lessons
Daily interactions and school routines
Assemblies and themed activities
Behaviour and safeguarding policies
